AFALcontigo soccer team
Sport is one of the most adequate tools that can be used to encourage values as important as friendship, solidarity and camaraderie; as well as the conviction that when working as a team, thanks to the generosity and dedication of all its members, objectives that at first seem unreachable can be attained.
With the support of Alares, assistance services (to which we are sincerely thankful for their altruistic collaboration), AFALcontigo, in its spirit of promoting all those activities that strengthen the association internally and externally, decided to create and organise a football team in order to participate in an inter-company league of the Community of Madrid.
The first steps have been quite promising, although, as you would expect from first-time participants, there have been moments of difficulty.
The preliminary round ended with the following results: there were two draws, two victories and one defeat. We were left with the feeling that the team has still a lot of talent to unveil in the future, once the passing of time covers up any initial defects shown up to now.
A strong, quality defence led by Álvaro Redondo and Manuel Nevado, and assisted on the sides by Raúl Recio, Luis Redondo, Angel and Menotti, guard their ground diligently and bravely when the opposing team attacks.
Concentrated in midfield are the dextrousness of Mena, the speed of Guillermo (maximum scorer of the team until now) and the mobility of Manolo which push the game forward to Jaime and Trevi, the attackers, who must open up spaces and take advantage of the work of those behind them.
There is definitely room for improvement, but we know that, as one of the main slogans of the association says: together we can do it.
